Chelsea latest side to join Man United in race to sign £42m Germany international
Chelsea are the latest side to join the race to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The 29-year-old’s future at Arsenal is looking increasingly uncertain after failing to pen a contract extension. Ozil could even end up leaving the club for free next summer.
According to the German outlet Sportbild, Chelsea have emerged as a ‘hot candidate’ is sign Ozil.
Ozil – who joined Arsenal for £42 million from Real Madrid – is understood to be keen on remaining in the Premier League and is happy with life in London.
Chelsea meanwhile are planning to bolster their midfielder in the upcoming transfer window. Blues boss Antonio Conte has recently expressed his concern regarding the size of Chelsea’s squad.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Ozil in recent weeks.
However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger refuted claims suggesting Ozil and Sanchez could be sold in January.
“They will be here,” Wenger told reporters when asked whether Ozil and Sanchez would be at Arsenal in February.
“I do not think every day about that, as long as they are here they have to give their best for the team and the club.
“In my head they stay until the end of the season – that was a decision taken at the start of the season.”
Ozil is available for selection tonight for the Gunners clash with Huddersfield. The 29-year-old missed the 1-0 win over Burnley due to an illness.
