Man City probable lineup against Shakhtar: Pep Guardiola missing two key stars for trip

Manchester City take on Shakhtar Donetsk in their final Champions League group stage game having already secured top spot.

The visitors will be without two key stars for the trip as Kevin De Bruyne is suspended and has not travelled with the squad.

David Silva meanwhile has been rested and left at home for the Manchester derby over the weekend.

Considering City will finish the group as leaders regardless of the result Pep Guardiola could be forgiven for resting key players ahead of the derby.

Guardiola has picked Ilkay Gundogan for the trip, the midfielder of Turkish origin could get his second Champions League start.

Gundogan has seen his playing time gradually increase after recovering from a lengthy knee injury in September.

Meanwhile Bernardo Silva could step in for Silva and make only his sixth start for the club.

Guardiola has decided to include Under-17 World Cup winner Phil Foden, fellow England youth international Tosin Adarabioyo and Spanish forward Brahim Diaz in the travelling squad.
