‘Gundogan is the worst midfielder we’ve ever had’ – Man City fans divided over midfielder’s display against Shakhtar
Manchester City suffered their first defeat of the season losing 2-1 to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Match Day 6.
Despite losing City had already secured a Last 16 spot as group leaders.
Head coach Pep Guardiola made several changes to his side and giving players like Tosin, Bahim and Phil a shot.
Ilkay Gundogan also started for the Citizens.
We took a look at how City fans reacted on social media to Gundogan’s display.
Gundogan’s display divided opinion. The midfielder of Turkish origin did not exactly go down well with everyone.
Danilo, Gundogan & Bernardo are turning out to be a worry for City. They were our real rotation options, w/o scare of drop in quality, but none has done enough to snatch a place in starting XI.

– Yaya has completely gone, can barely run, total passenger
– Gundogan miles off the pace, looks painfully slow
– Sane attitude and touch awful, in truth been poor last few games
– Bernardo surely out of position, lost out wide
– Brahim the real positive, had a genuine spark— View From A Blue (@viewfromablue) December 6, 2017
Gundogan looks a shadow of what he was. Obviously needs games, but hard to give him games when performances are so below par.

Gundogan a flop if he doesn’t bail out City today, people were saying he’s top five CM when he arrived, what a downfall.

Bit harsh? was he really that bad, I think this may be a tad over the top. Stats wise he did pretty good with a 94 percent pass accuracy. Made even more impressive by the fact he attempted 110 passes – more than any other player on the field by quite a distance.
Gundogan is the worst midfielder we’ve ever had

On the opposite end of the spectrum…
Not everyone agreed. In fact quite a few fans thought the complete opposite claiming Gundogan was City’s best player on the night.
Would love to know what game people are watching because Gündogan has been our best player.

Ilkay gundogan don’t have to prove anything to anyone he already established himself as a world class player and the best midfield player he prove it in BVB and last season and every game he played this season he made an impact never had a bad game can not wait till he is 100%

If you think Gundogan had a bad game tonight then football isn’t the sport for you

Gundogan was a level above the rest tonight man, you guys love hating on him for some reason but on form he’s genuinely one of the best CMs itw

He WAS our midfield the entire game. Fought hard for a place in the first XI. Will be vital in the next games.
