‘He’s Harry Kane-esque’ – £27m Everton Signing Likened To Tottenham Star

Everton struck a deal with Besiktas over the transfer of Cenk Tosun today.

The Toffees are expected to pay £27 million for the Turkey international star.

The 26-year-old remains a relatively unknown name to most Everton fans – unless they happen to be Turkish football aficionados.

Former Everton player Dan Hutchinson has however, been keeping a close eye on Tosun.

“I know Cenk Tosun quite well in terms of how many times I’ve watched him,” he told Sky Sports.

Hutchinson revealed that Tosun reminds him of Tottenham star Harry Kane and that the £27 million fee being quoted as the transfer fee would actually be a bargain.

Dan Hutchinson told Sky Sports: “In Tosun, Everton are getting a very good player for quite a cheap price. What is £27m now? As Jose Mourinho said, teams are spending £50m on full-backs these days. So if you can get a centre-forward at half that price who can get double figures for goals every season, then great.

“I’m don’t necessarily believe in stats, I prefer to watch players. I watch people like Harry Kane on his left foot. He scores goals and he doesn’t panic. I watch Cenk on his left side and I see that he’s Harry Kane-esque in how clinical he is.”

If Everton ended up getting a player who could replicate half of what Kane has achieved £27 million would indeed be a bargain.

Tosun has actually been in great form over the past few seasons.

Besiktas have won the league title for the past two seasons with Tosun playing a starring role.

The Turkey international has also been impressive in the Champions League scoring four goals and providing two assists in this term.

Besiktas became the first Super Lig side to book a place in the Last 16 as group leaders this season.

Tosun was directly involved in six of the Black Eagles 11 goals as they cruised unbeaten through the group stage.
