Beşiktaş fullback Daniel Opare cleared up what he actually meant in his recent rallying cry where he told reporters that he would die for the team after the Liverpool game.

Opare’s post-match comments following the victory over Liverpool in the Europa League Round of 32 soon went viral and made the Ghana international an overnight sensation among Beşiktaş fans.

Beşiktaş ended up knocking Liverpool out of the Europa League and progressing to the Last 16.

“When I said I would die for Beşiktaş I do not think everyone got what I meant,” Opare told BJK Tv.

“The fans make big sacrifices to come to the games, they give us their all and the atmosphere they create lifts us and makes us play better.

“What I meant is that when you are playing in front of that kind of passion you want to fight to the very last drop of blood for the fans.”
