Ilkay Gündoğan wants to sign for Manchester United

Ilkay Gündoğan has been heavily linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund in recent months and has been stalling on signing a new deal with the German giants.

The 24-year-old’s contract runs out in July 2016 and Dortmund will be keen to cash in if Gündoğan does not put pen to paper on a new deal.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all expressed an interest in Gündoğan

According to the German newspaper Sport Bild, the German international would prefer a move to Manchester United.

The midfielder was ruled out out of first team football for over 400 days with injury but has since recovered and returned to first team football.

Gündoğan has four assists and has scored two goals in 19 appearances for Dortmund this season.

The 24-year-old was born in Germany and is of Turkish descent. Gündoğan represents the country of his birth and is bilingual in Turkish and German.

United are currently fourth in the Premier League and take on sixth place Tottenham next.
