The hit on the Fenerbahce team bus was done by a professional says Trabzonspor boss

The armed attack on the Fenerbahçe team bus was a professional job according to Trabzonspor president Ibrahim Hacıosmanoğlu.

“Somebody managed to shoot a moving coach from a moving car in pitch darkness, this was no amateur job,” Hacıosmanoğlu said on the official club website.

“To hit the driver at that speed was the work of a professional, the authorities need to find who did this.”

The Fenerbahçe team was making its way toward Trabzon’s airport following a 5-1 win over Çaykur Rizespor when the incident occurred.

The team bus was shot at with a rifle along the Sürmene-Araklı Highway by a vehicle travelling on the other side of the road heading in the opposite direction.

Hacıosmanoğlu also underlined that the attack hurt Trabzonspor as much as it did Fenerbahçe and that all of Turkish football suffered.

“It was not just an attack on Fenerbahçe, it was an attack on us as well, it was an attack on all of us,” he added.

The Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe rivalry dates back to the beginning of a July 3, 2011 investigation into alleged match-fixing involving the Yellow Canaries.

Trabzonspor do not recognise Fenerbahçe as being the 2010-11 season champions. The Black Sea Storm believe they were the rightful champions.

UEFA refused to permit Fenerbahçe to participate in the 2011-12 Champions League, inviting 2010-11 Süper Lig runners-up Trabzonspor instead.

Trabzonspor, however, was not declared the champion for the 2010-11 season.
