Ex-Liverpool forward Ryan Babel pays tribute to Hillsborough victims

Kasımpaşa forward Ryan Babel shared a tweet today paying his respect to the 96 children, men and woman who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster.

Babel tweeted: “TODAY: In Memory Of The Hillsborough Disaster… Justice For The 96! #neverforgotten #YNWA96.”

The city of Liverpool will today pay its respects to mark the 26th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

The tragedy claimed the lives of 96 football fans and 766 people were left injured following the tragic events that took place at the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forrest on April 15, 1989.

Babel scored a total of 22 goals in 146 appearances for Liverpool between 2007-11 and later joined Süper Lig outfit Kasımpaşa on a free transfer from Ajax in 2013.

The 28-year-old has seven goals and five assists in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Süper Lig outfit this season.

The Netherlands international was recently called up for the Liverpool FC All-Star charity game.

Babel starred in the Liverpool FC All-Star game at Anfield that ended in a 2-2 draw.
