Hannover, now winless in 13 matches, sacked manager Tayfun Korkut after the game.
Turkish international Toprak opened the scoring with a near-post header via compatriot Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s corner kick.
The goal was Toprak’s first of the season for the Bundesliga outfit.
The 26-year-old put in a fine defensive performance making two tackles, three interceptions and eight clearances. Toprak was awarded a 9.00 rating by Whoscored.
Çalhanoğlu now has 10 assists and 11 goals in all competitions this season.
The 21-year-old provided another assist from set-pieces against Hannover. Çalhanoğlu is regarded as being one of the best set-piece specialists in world football.
Pep Guardiola recently revealed that he is also a fan of the young attacking midfielder, “Çalhanoğlu is one of the best free-kick takers in the Bundesliga.”
The Turkish international made 38 passes at an 84 percent accuracy, delivered 11 crosses and made six key passes over the course of the match.
