Kayserispor deny claims that Alex de Souza will take over as manager

Kayserispor have released a statement denying claims that Alex de Souza will take over as head coach in the summer.

The statement read: “Alex was a great player but rumours claiming that he will take over as manager at the end of the season are false.” 

The Anatolian Stars have already secured promotion from the PTT.1 Lig.

Kayserispor have amassed 63 points in 31 games. The newly promoted side have scored 53 and conceded just 21 goals so far this season.

Alex joined Fenerbahçe from Cruzeiro for €4 million in 2004 and achieved legendary status over the eight seasons he spent at the club.

The former Brazil international guided the Istanbul club to three Turkish Super League titles including a memorable 2006-07 championship trophy on the Yellow Canaries centenary year.

The 37-year-old playmaker spent eight years in Istanbul scoring 104 goals in 398 games for the Turkish giants.

Fenerbahçe fans recently raised funds to build a statue in honour of Alex.

The statue was paid for by the fans was erected next to the statue of another club legend Lefter Küçükandonyadis in the Kadıköy Yoğurtçu park, a short distance from the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium.
