It has emerged that Bayern Munich held a vote over the transfer of Ilkay Gündoğan according to the German daily newspaper Bild.
Matthaias Sammer and the technical director Michael Reschke both voted against the move. Manager Pep Gündoğan and club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also expressed concerns over the transfer.
Bayern’s management team were unsure of Gündoğan’s athletic ability. Pep Guardiola requires his midfielders to press the opponents aggressively.
The Bundesliga champions were also concerned at the 24-year-olds ‘excessive wage demands’.
Gündoğan also disappointed visiting Bayern scouts during Dortmund’s 3-1 defeat to Wolfsburg in the DFB-Pokal final last week.
