Barcelona have taken a step back in their quest to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gündoğan due to the 24-year-old astronomical wage demands.
According to the Turkish news agency DHA, the Catalan giants are having difficulties negotiating with Gündoğan’s agent and father Irfan Gündoğan.
The report goes onto state that Barcelona were in shock father hearing Gündoğan’s €12 million-per-year demands.
Bayern Munich – who were also interested in signing Gündoğan – have pulled out of the race to sign the Germany international after the clubs technical director Michael Reschke voted against the move. Bayern’s management team were unsure of Gündoğan’s athletic ability.
