Liverpool youngster Emre Can has stated that he wants to play in central midfield next season.
The 21-year-old played predominantly as a centre-back in Brendan Rodgers back-three and as a right-back in a back-four despite signing from Bayer Leverkusen as a central midfielder in the summer.
Can revealed that he has spoken with Rodgers about his desire to play in midfield and that the Reds boss also wants to see him play in the teams centre.
“Of course, we talked about this. The manager has said he sees me as a midfielder, and that’s where I want to play in the near future,” Can told the Anfield Wrap.

The midfielder-come-defender also underlined that Rodgers has been improving his game and that he is always working on developing Can’s skills.
“Of course he talks to me every day about what I can do better. I have to work on my game and he helps me everyday,” he added.
The Liverpool youngster made 40 appearances in all competitions in his first season for Liverpool.
Can is expected to move into his preferred central midfield role next season with captain Steven Gerrard set to leave the club for the MLS.
