Vaz Te praises West Ham boss Bilic's record against Premier League opposition

Akhisar winger Ricardo Vaz Te praised West Ham manager Slaven Bilic’s record against Premier League opposition during his time at Beşiktaş.

The Black Eagles knocked Liverpool out of the Europa League Round of 32 despite being underdogs.

“Besiktas finished third in the league and I am not sure what went on near the end in-house at the club, but he wasn’t far off landing the title with them. They also saw off Liverpool in the Europa League and that was a big result here, a big victory and achievement,” Vaz Te told the official West Ham website.

Beşiktaş were undefeated at home against Premier League opposition in Europe this season.

The Black Eagles drew against Arsenal in the Champions League playoff first leg in Istanbul and beat Tottenham as well as Liverpool at the Atatürk Olympic stadium.

The Istanbul giants finished the league in third place but were leading the title race until the last five games of the season.

Bilic resigned from his position as Beşiktaş head coach at the end of the 2014-15 Süper Lig campaign and was replaced by former Turkish national team manager Şenol Güneş.

Vaz Te joined Akhisar from West Ham on a free transfer over the winter transfer window.

The Portuguese winger scored the winning goal in West Ham’s Play-Off final win against Blackpool at Wembley in May 2012 but left as a free agent after struggling for playing time last season.
