5 reasons why Manchester United should sign Semih Kaya
We explore three reasons why City could benefit from signing the experienced midfielder.
1. Manchester City need a DM
Neither Fernando nor Fernandinho have been able to nail down a regular spot in Manchester City’s starting 11 following a string of sub-par performances. The Citizens lack of defensive cover in midfielder cost them heavily last season as they conceded the highest amount of goals in the top four.
With Yaya Toure’s reluctance to track back City need a defensive minded midfielder who is happy to sit deep and mop up any mistakes from the more creative midfielders ahead.
2. Experienced
At the age of 29 Mehmet Topal is a vastly experienced player. The ‘Spiderman‘ has won the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Super Cup with both Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe. Topal also has 49 caps for his national team and played in the semi-finals of Euro 2008.
Topal also has experience of playing abroad spending two seasons in Spain with Valencia. All in all Topal is a player who is used to playing at a high level at big clubs under immense pressure.
3. Intelligent
Topal is renowned for his intelligence.
