Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has praised Arsenal football club for extending the contracts of Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott.
Both Cazorla’s and Walcott’s contracts were set to expire at the end of the season. According to the BBC Cazorla has extended his deal by two deals while Theo Walcott signed a four-year deal worth £140,000 a week.
Ozil posted an image of Cazorla and Walcott on Instagram and Twitter along with the caption, “A good day for every Gooner! Two top quality players stay.”
“Both are top-quality players who are hugely important and influential to our squad,” manager Arsene Wenger was quoted as saying by the BBC.
Cazorla provided 15 assists and scored eight goals in 53 appearances for Arsenal last season. Walcott made one assist and found the back of the net on seven occasions last term for the Gunners.
Özil provided nine assists and five goals in 32 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions last season. The world cup winner has been in good form since the turn of the year winning two Vitality Arsenal Player of the Month and a PFA Fans Player of the Month award.
The 26-year-old has hit the ground running during pre-season, Özil provided two assists and scored during Arsenal’s 6-0 victory over Lyon.
The North London based side take on their rivals Chelsea on August 2 in the Charity shield.
