Mesut Ozil has come under heavy criticism on social media following Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham United yesterday.
The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes in the Gunners defeat and was over shadowed by West Ham’s 16-year-old defender Reece Oxford.
Oxford marked a memorable Premier League debut by helping his side to a surprise victory over their London rivals.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic heaped praise on the teenager stating, “If Messi was in front of me, I’d be more fazed than Reece.”
Ozil was trolled by Twitter users after the game, here are a selection of the tweets:

The defeat was Arsenal’s first loss in the games against the Hammers. Cheikhou Kouyaté and Mauro Zárate scored for the Hammers with Arsenal keeper Petr Cech at fault on both goals.
Ozil received a rating of 6.67 from Whoscored after failing to register a shot on target. The former Real Madrid playmaker did provide four key passes and maintained a passing accuracy of 87.7 but failed to leave his mark on the game.
Arsenal will be looking to bounce back next weekend when they have a tough away trip to Crystal Palace.
