Galatasaray released a statement on their official website today confirming that Newcastle United had made an offer for striker Burak Yilmaz.
The club later edited the statement replacing Newcastle with West Ham United.
Yilmaz has been closely linked with a move to West Ham since the arrival of Slaven Bilic as head coach.
The former Besiktas manager knows Yilmaz well having coached in Turkey for the past two seasons.
The Lions confirmed that an offer has indeed been made by the Hammers but also underlined that they are reluctant to part ways with their star striker.
The Metro recently reported that West Ham United had agreed personal terms with the Turkish international.
The article claims that the prolific striker has agreed to a £6.4 million transfer fee the London based side.
Yilmaz was left on the bench during Galatasaray’s 2-2 draw with Sivasspor on Saturday which led to further speculation that the prolific striker could be destined for an exit from Turkey.
The prolific striker did however, score against Sivasspor but was left out of the starting lineup against Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu Cup on Tuesday.
