Beşiktaş manager Şenol Güneş has vetoed a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes according to HaberTürk.
The experienced keeper had been closely linked with the Black Eagles but Güneş reportedly does not want the club to pursue the Spanish international.
The report claims that Güneş feel Valdes would disrupt the balance of the current squad.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola has also linked Süper Lig champions Galatasaray with a move for the Spanish international goalkeeper.
Antalyaspor are reported to be in the race to sign Valdes after football football agent Metin Korkmaz told Radyospor underlined that the Spanish international keeper is interested in a move.
Korkmaz revealed that Beşiktaş have yet to make a formal offer for the experienced keeper but that Antalyaspor are in talks.
“Deco currently has the rights for Valdes and we are trying to work this transfer through him. Antalyaspor really want him and he would be keen on playing with his former teammate Samuel Eto’o again. We have yet to receive an offer from Beşiktaş. This should all be resolved within the next 2-3 days,” Korkmaz said.
Valdes is almost certain to leave United over the summer following comments made by Louis Van Gaal.
Van Gaal was speaking during a press-conference where United’s new transfer Bastian Schweinsteiger was unveiled when he stated: “He [Valdes] is not selected because he don’t follow our philosophy. There is no place for that one player.
“Last year he refused to play with the second team.”
“When you are not willing to follow the principles of the philosophy there is only one way – out.”
Tolga Zengin and Cenk Gönen are currently first and second choice keepers, respectively, at Beşiktaş who finished last in third place and booked a place in the Europa League group stages.
The Black Eagles are currently managed by Şenol Güneş who replaced Slaven Bilic over the summer.
Bilic replaced Sam Allardyce at West Ham over the summer after resigning from his role as Beşiktaş head coach.
