Mesut Özil has praised Arsenal’s performance against Liverpool last season. The Germany international was selected as the Gunners man of the match following a goal and assist during his sides 4-1 victory.
“It was a nice feeling. When you assist goals or score them yourself, it does you good but what’s most important is that we have success as a team and that was the case against Liverpool last season,” Özil was quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.
“We were really convincing, the whole team was very focused and played really well.”
The former Real Madrid man is expected to be included in the Gunners starting line-up following an impressive performance against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Özil joined Arsenal on a record £42.5 million transfer fee and still has three-years left on his contract. The playmaker has established himself as a key player in the current Gunners side and is reported to be happy at the club.
The 26-year-old has a total of one assist in two league appearances for the Gunners this season. Özil enjoyed a trophy-laden pre-season winning the Asia Barclays Trophy, Emirates Cup and Community Shield.
