Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has likened the transfer of Gokhan Inler to Napoli’s signing of Diego Maradona.
The Italian manager believes that he sides summer signings will help attract more top players.
“We want to build our foundation and with a big foundation you can then build the first floor, second floor and everything. Inler is one of our foundations,” Ranieri was quoted as saying by the BBC.
“I remember when nobody wanted to go to Naples. But after Maradona everyone wants to go to Naples.
“If we start to build maybe in three or four years a lot of players will want to come to Leicester. Why not?”
Maradona moved to Napoli in 1984, and helped them lift two Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia triumph and a Uefa Cup win.
Inler made his debut for Leicester in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham on the weekend.
The Swiss international joined the Premier League outfit for a reported £5 million transfer fee despite interest from Bundesliga outfit Schalke and Turkish giants Beşiktaş.
Leicester have gotten off to a flying start in the League with two wins and a draw in their opening draw games. City have won 28 Premier League points since April 1st 2015; more than any other side.
