Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has urged Manchester United fans to give Bastian Schweinsteiger time to settle.
Schweinsteiger joined United from Bayern Munich earlier this summer for fee understood to be around £14.4 million. The Germany international played his first full 90 minutes in United’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday.
“The drastic interim judgement in [the] English press is not fair towards him. He certainly needs some time to adjust to Premier League. Just allow him a bit of time,” Ozil has told Sport1.
“Basti has shown the whole world at the World Cup what a leader he is, most of all in the final,”
“Whenever the English media writes about Bastian, they put a World Cup winner before his name. He’s now the German world champion, who should make the difference for United.”
Ozil played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s goalless draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday.
The Germany international also provided three accurate crosses and maintained a passing accuracy of 84.4 per-cent. The World Cup winner received a rating of 7.31 from whoscored.
Arsenal have gotten off to a slow start in the Premier League having just won one of their first three games. The Gunners sit in ninth place with four points.
United meanwhile remain undefeated in the league following two victories and a draw in their opening three games.
