Moussa Sow rejected Sunderland bid to join Al Ahli

Moussa Sow revealed that he turned down an offer from Sunderland to join UAE side Al Ahli.

The Senegal international join Al Ahli on a €17 million move from from Fenerbahçe over the summer transfer window.

Sow also stated that he turned down an offer from Premier League outfit West Ham.

“I received a few offers from West Ham United and Sunderland,” Sow was quoted as saying by Sport 360.

“But in the end, I decided to come to Al Ahli.”

Sow was expected to fall down the pecking order at Fenerbahçe following the arrival of Robin van Persie at Manchester United but managed to hold onto his place.

The experienced striker was expected to stay in Istanbul this season but Al Ahli matched his release clause and offered him a lucrative deal exceeding the €1.4 million he was set to receive for the 2015-16 campaign at Fenerbahçe.

The 29-year-old scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions for the Yellow Canaries last season. Sow won the league title and Turkish Cup during his time at the Istanbul giants.
