“Agreement in place” – Liverpool set to lose star midfielder to Euro Giants, talks ongoing as Reds try convince him to stay
Serie A giants Juventus are understood to be very close to agreeing a deal with Liverpool star midfielder Emre Can.
The 23-year-old’s Merseyside future is cast in doubt after failing to pen a new contract. Can could even end up leaving the club for free next summer.
According to SkySport’s transfer guru Dharmesh Sheth, Juventus already have “an agreement in place” with Emre Can.
However, Sheth does go on to state that Liverpool are still trying to persuade the Germany international to stay. The SkySports expert also revealed that Can would be earning less at Juventus if he made the move to the Serie A.
“Our colleagues in Sky Italy say there is an agreement in place but our sources have also told us Liverpool are still trying to convince him to stay,” Sheth told SkySports.
“So until that pre-contact agreement is signed, he’s still available for Liverpool to try and convince.
“There is talk that I’ve seen that he would get paid less at Juventus than he would at Liverpool, which begs the question ‘why would he leave Liverpool if the deal is better at Liverpool?”
Can has remained a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s side despite the contract dispute.
The 23-year-old has provided three assists and scored four goals in 26 appearances for Liverpool this season.
Liverpool take on league leaders Manchester City this weekend as they look to maintain their winning run of form.
