Arsenal have been closely linked with a move for Barcelona star Arda Turan over the past few weeks and Alexis Sanchez is reported to have urged his club to push ahead with the transfer according to Haberturk.
Per the source, Sanchez is claimed to have given a Turan a good reference and told representatives of the club that he would like to see the Turkish international player at the club.
Turan did play against Sanchez when he was an Atletico Madrid player. The Chile international played for Turan’s current club Barcelona during his time in Spain.
Sanchez struggled to settle in at Barcelona and there parallels have been made between the forward and Turan.
The Turkish midfielder missed the first half of the season due to the FIFA transfer ban after joining Barca on a five-year deal from Atleti.
There are concerns whether Turan fits into the Barca setup and his future remains in doubt according to reports in Spain.
Turan is currently in Spain after being called back a week earlier than his teammates who played at Euro 2016 for training and will have to prove himself to Luis Enrique over the pre-season period.
The Sun report that Turan could be available for £20 million and that Arsenal as well as Chelsea are interested.
Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut does however, claim that his client is happy at Barca and wants to stay at the club.
Speaking to Emre Sarigul of Turkish-football.com [via the Guardian], Bulut said: “The interest [in Arda] is normal but the rumours saying he is leaving Barcelona are false, he is happy at the club.”
