“Already thinking of a way out” – Liverpool fans react on social media after contract talks stall with Emre Can
Liverpool contract rebel Emre Can has irked Reds supports with his latest set of demands.
The 23-year-old has entered the final year of his contract and has been linked with a move to the likes of Man United, Chelsea and Juventus in recent weeks.
According to the Times, contract talks have stalled because Can wants to include a releases clause in his new deal.
Unless Liverpool can strike a deal with the Germany international, he could end up leaving for free next summer.
The latest reports have had a mixed response from Liverpool fans with some stating that Liverpool should just bite the bullet and give the player what he wants.

100m release clause

Emre is twice the player of Sigurdsson as an example, so £90m is a reasonable Release Clause I'd say.

It's a given now in every players new contracts. Lesson learned from #Coutinho & #VVD. They won't sign unless they've got it.

Fine £90m that kicks in summer 2020

He's the 1 player who's improved year on year since he's signed- only going to get better, losing him for free would be a big mistake

I doubt the issue is that LFC won't agree to a clause. More likely the mix of the price the players team want coupled with his wage demands.

Or just whack a £200m release clause in! That's what he'd be worth in this crazy market! #emrestay #lfc

However, a large portion of fans also believe Can should be allowed to go if he does not accept the contract Liverpool has put forward.
No they shouldn't! He is already thinking of a way out.

increase his salary but NO release clause, if he doesn't accept, let him go for free
— Omar Awad Elkariem (@OmarElkariem) September 6, 2017
I would take advantage of the fact that it's a World Cup year and say sign or don't play.

No. Allowing this wud create a precedence for other players n things wud become unmanageable d next time a saga like Couts comes up
— Anant (@anantpagare) September 6, 2017
If @LFC doesn't offer release clause Can doesn't sign at all. Sign him w/ the clause and at least we have him for a while. Which is better?

Next will be Mane, then Firmino then Keita etc, once you set a precedent it's hard to change it

Liverpool fans will be hoping Emre Can can keep up his impressive run of form when the Reds take on Manchester City on September 9.
