Barcelona boss Luis Enrique raised a few eyebrows when he revealed that he wanted to bring in Arda Turan for £29 million over the summer despite being unable to play him until January.

Enrique did eventually get his way and Turan joined on a five-year deal from Atletico Madrid despite Barcelona serving a FIFA transfer ban meaning they were unable to register him at the time.

“Luis Enrique wanted me at Barcelona because of my work rate, passion and ability to keep hold of the ball,” Turan told Sabah in a recent interview.

“He told me this himself but now it is up to me to prove it.”

Turan had to wait six months before he could eventually be registered as a Barcelona player but it was worth the long wait considering the La Liga champions have won their last two games since the bearded winger made his debut four goals in each match.

The 28-year-old is expected to feature regularly in Enrique’s side and has started in both games he has been available for so far against Espanyol in his debut and Granada in his league debut.
