Arsenal Hopeful Man United Target Will Stay At Emirates After Aubameyang & Mkhitaryan Transfers

Arsenal are hopeful that signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January will convince Mesut Ozil to sign a contract extension according to the Evening Standard.

The Gunners parted ways with Alexis Sanchez with in a deal which will see a swap move with Mkhitaryan.

With the Armenia international completing his move the Gunners are now focused on striking an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for Aubameyang.

The North London based outfit could end up breaking their transfer record, currently standing at £52.7 million for Alexandre Lacazette.

The transfer of Aubameyang could end up causing a chain reaction as far as Ozil’s future is concerned.

The playmaker of Turkish origin is demanding an increase on his £130,000-a-week wage close to £300,000-a-week.

Ozil is currently free to talk overseas clubs as he has under six-months remaining on his contract.

The Independent recently reported that United will still move for Ozil even if Sanchez is signed.

The Red Devils are keen on a new playmaker after losing Mkhitaryan to the Gunners.

Ozil is no stranger to working with Jose Mourinho from his time at Real Madrid.

The 2014 World Cup winner lifted the La Liga title during his time at Real under the stewardship of Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager is understand to view Ozil as a potentially key piece in his system.

The Germany international is expected to stay at Arsenal until at least the end of the season.

Ozil has four goals and six assists in all competitions this season for the North London based outfit.
