Arsenal legend Ian Wright has backed Mesut Ozil for the comments he made regarding Arsenal’s title challenge.
The 27-year-old stated that he believes Arsenal have “screwed up” their title bid after dropping points against sides lower down in the table.
The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger slammed the 27-year-old for his comments however, former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has supported the Germany international.
“I think Mesut realises it will take a massive capitulation from Leicester City and Tottenham and arsenal will have to win all of their games,” Ian Wright stated live on Match of the Day (BBC).
“I think he is right to say what he is saying.”
Ozil received a rating of 7.39 for his performance today by WhoScored. The Germany international maintained a passing accuracy of 92% and took 126 touches on the ball.
The Gunners only chance of winning silverware this season is the Premier League after being knocked out of the FA Cup and Champions League.
Ozil has a total of 19 assists in the Premier League this season – the highest in the league – and has created more chances than any other player (116).
