The Gunners star provided his 16th assist of the season in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth and even got on the scoresheet himself for his fifth league goal.
Wright praised the World Cup winner for his performance after the game and underlined that it would be any strikers dream to have a player of Özil’s quality playing in behind.
The former Arsenal man also stated that Özil’s teammates really need to be more alert to his passing and the number of chances he creates as several chances were squandered by the likes of Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott over the course of the 90 minutes.
Özil has provided the highest number of assists in the league – 16 in 17 games – in fact no other player in Europe’s top five leagues – France, Spain, Germany, Italy and England – have provided more.
