Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has stated that Mesut Ozil should be dropped by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, according to the Metro.
The former France international went onto say that the youngster Alex Iwobi should start ahead of Ozil in games where the opposition sets out with a defensive mindset.
Henry went onto say that Iwobi is more effective than Ozil in certain circumstances.
“Iwobi is better off in the middle for Arsenal when they come up against teams who are defensively minded like we saw against Crystal Palace,” Henry was quoted as saying by the Metro.
“Wenger must have seen it, and hopefully he will be picked ahead of Ozil in such games.
“He moves the ball quicker and faster leaving opposition defenders in their wake. He belongs to the middle.”
Ozil sat out of Arsenal’s comfortable 2-0 win over Crystal Palace due to an illness. Iwobi was one of the stars of the show and started in the Germany international’s place in the number ten role behind striker Olivier Giroud.
However, Ozil has been in exceptional form this season with seven assists and nine goals in 23 apperances for the Gunners this term. Iwobi meanwhile has three assists and three goals in 23 apperances for Arsenal.
