Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil has expressed his feelings regarding his PFA player of the year nomination.
The 27-year-old will face competition from West Ham United’s star man Dimitri Payet and the Leicester City trio, Jamie Vardy. N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez.
Ozil took to social media to upload a picture of himself along with the caption, “Proud to be nominated for @the_PFA Player of the Year award!”
Tottenham’s star striker Harry Kane – who won last seasons award – has also been nominated after scoring 27 goals this seasons.
The Algeria international Mahrez is currently the front runner for the award after a stunning season in which he has provided ten assists and scored 17 goals.
Ozil has provided the highest number of assists in the league this season (19) and would have had more had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates.
The former Real Madrid man star has also created the most chances in the league (122) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.
