Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil has made no secret that he is loving life in the capital.

The 26-year-old is enjoying everything from his native Turkish cuisine to meeting people of different cultures and of course the football.

Özil has been well and truly won over by London and believes it has a lot more to offer than most her European counterparts.

The World Cup winner told the official Arsenal website“I like to be in London because the city has so much to offer. That’s why I love living here. I don’t think you have as many choices as in London anywhere else in Europe.”

The Arsenal star revealed that there is more to do in London than say his hometown of Gelsenkirchen in Germany and that he is likes to explore the city.

“There are many things to do here, many options for how you spend your time, and that’s really good for us. I come from Gelsenkirchen, from a small city where there aren’t as many options as in London. That’s why I’m relishing my time here,” he added.

Özil was born in the German city of Gelsenkirchen and grew up in the suburb of Bismark.

The German mining city of Gelsenkirchen is home of Schalke FC and some of the brightest footballing talents of Turkish origin anywhere in the world.

The likes of the Altıntop twins, İlkay Gündoğan and Kaan Ayhan also herald from the same city.

Özil has started both Arsenal games this season and is likely to be in the starting XI against Liverpool at the Emirates next week.
