Arsenal star Mesut Ozil only ruled out for a week with knee-injury

Arsenal news Per Mertesacker

Arsenal star Mesut Özil has been ruled out for a week due to a minor knee-injury according to the Independent.

The 26-year-old’s injury was not as bad as initially thought. Özil missed the match against Newcastle United today and there were fears that he could be out for a while considering he suffered a similar blow last season.

Özil missed much of the first half of last season and only returned after the winter break.

The North London based outfit beat Newcastle United 1-0 at the St James Park to record their second win of the season. Both of the Gunners wins this season have come in away games.

Arsenal are without a win at the Emirates but will be hoping to turn around their fortunes at home when they take on host Stoke City on 12 September after the international break.

Özil could miss international games with Germany as a result of his recent injury.
