Calhanoglu has also attracted widespread interest from the Premier League.
The BILD has linked Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton with the Turkish international.
The Premier League sides will however, have to act fast if they want to stand a chance of hijacking the deal.
Calhanoglu scored seven goals and provided seven assists last season despite being suspended from competitive football since February.
The 23-year-old picked up a FIFA ban for breach of contract after signing for Trabzonspor as a teenager but never joining the club.
