Antalyaspor interim-manager Samuel Eto’o has hinted that he wants to take over as head coach on a permanent basis.
Eto’o revealed that he is open to becoming player manager at the club following their 2-1 victory over Giresunspor in the Turkish Cup.
“I want to thank the players and the technical team everybody played a role in this victory. I am interim-manager now but who knows what will happen in the near future,” Eto’o told Turkish-football.com reporters after the game.
The former Barcelona man has now won both games in charge of the Scorpions since his recent appointment.
Eto’o has had an illustrious playing career winning two Champions League and three La Liga titles at Barcelona as well as the treble – including the Champions League, Serie A and Italian Cup – at Inter.
Antalyaspor have been in the hunt for a manager to replace Yusuf Şimşek who was sacked following a six game winless streak last week.
Former youth team coach Mehmet Uğurlu has joined Antalyaspor captain Eto’o as his assistant but the duo may be offered a permanent role depending on results.
