Barcelona move into top spot following return of star international
Barcelona have moved into pole position in the Spanish League following a victory over Sporting Gijon last night.
Argentina international Javier Mascherano returned to the starting lineup and immediately made an impact by setting up Leo Messi for the opening goal.
Mascherano was a doubt going into last night’s game due to a thigh injury and so was Arda Turan.
Luis Enrique’s side went score six times while conceding once with goals coming from Messi, Suarez, Paco, Neymar and Rakitic.
Barcelona received further good news when their bitter rivals Real Madrid failed to defeat Las Palmas at home.
Turkey international Turan missed yesterday’s game due to an abductor injury.
The 30-year-old has participated in first team training since last week but failed a late fitness test.

It remains to be seen whether Turan will feature in Barcelona’s next game against Celta Vigo on the weekend.
