Barcelona’s star midfielder Arda Turan has hit out at critics and vowed to give his all to win the La Liga this season.
The 27-year-old has been criticised in recent weeks despite making his debut in January. Barcelona were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Atletico Madrid last week.
“This is when you see everyones true intentions, this is when the mask drops,” Turan was quoted as saying by ESPN.
“But times like this only strengthen us now we can get rid of the rotten apples and return stronger.
“We will never give up, it is not in my nature to give up and I will give everything to win all the trophies we are competing in.
“I am proud to be wearing the Barcelona shirt.”
Arch rivals Real Madrid are just one point behind Barcelona and Atleti in the league standings.
Turan missed the weekend game against Valencia due to suspension but will return in time for the clash against Deportivo on Wednesday 20 April.
The Turkish international has two goals and four assists in all competitions for the reigning champions this season since making his move from Atleti over the summer.
