Barcelona team news: Luis Enrique faces defensive issues ahead of Sporting clash
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is facing injury problems in defence ahead of their next leave game against Sporting Gijon on Wednesday.
According to the Spanish outlet Marca, Jérémy Mathieu and Alex Vidal have been ruled out while Javier Mascherano is a major doubt.
However, it wasn’t all bad news for Enrique as Turkey international Arda Turan was back in training. The 30-year-old has missed Barcelona’s previous three games due to a muscle injury.
Turan came close to playing against his former side Atletico Madrid on Sunday but failed a late fitness test. The former Galatasaray star’s last game for Barca was against Atleti in the Copa del Rey.

Barcelona managed a 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid and were momentarily at the top of La Liga. However, Real Madrid’s come-back victory over Villarreal means Barca are still a point behind their bitter rivals.
Enrique’s side host Sporting Gijon at the Camp Nou on Wednesday, kick-off is scheduled for 18:30 (GMT).
