Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has revealed that Turkish Super League giants Besiktas have impressed him this season.
The World Cup winner stated that Mario Gomez in particular has been in great form and that he enjoys watching his goals for the Istanbul giants.
Ozil underlined that Gomez fully deserved being recalled to the Germany national team.
“I watch Turkish league matches all the time and have been really impressed with Besiktas and the goals Gomez has scored for the club,” Ozil told Fanatik.
Gomez scored his first intentional goal since 2012 in the 3-2 defeat against England last week but did not start in the 4-1 victory over Italy.
The experienced striker is the top scorer in the Turkish league with 21 goals for the league leaders.
Gomez joined the Black Eagles on a two-year loan from Italian outfit Fiorentina over the summer transfer window. Besiktas also have a release clause option to sign the Germany star on a permanent deal.
The Eagles take on Kasimpasa next in the mini Istanbul derby on Monday and will remain four points clear of second placed Fenerbahce with a victory.
