Besiktas president glad star striker didn’t join Crystal Palace, slaps £17m price tag on Newcastle target
Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun came close to a move to the Premier League side Crystal Palace in the final days of the summer transfer window.
The deal fell through on deadline day after Palace failed to get the paperwork over the line in time.
However, Besiktas president Fikret Orman has stated that he is please Tosun didn’t join Palace.
Speaking live on TRT Spor, Orman confirmed that they are open to selling their star names at the right price. The Besiktas president went onto state, “To be honest I didn’t want Cenk to go to Crystal Palace.”
According to the Turkish outlet Fanatik, Newcastle and Tottenham are also interested in signing the 26-year-old in January. Per the source, Besiktas have upped Cenk’s price tag to £17.5 million.

Tosun has been on fire for Besiktas season and scored a stunning 30 yard strike in the UEFA Champions league against FC Porto. The Turkey international has scored four goals in all competitions for the Black Eagles this season.
