Besiktas are set to sign the Germany international striker Mario Gomez.
The Istanbul based club released a statement on their official website stating that they have agreed to loan Gomez with the option to buy the 30-year-old at the end of the season.
The experienced goalscorer was pictured in a Besiktas jersey and is expected to arrive in Istanbul today. Gomez will receive €3.5 million for the 2015-16 season.
The Germany international has been linked with a move to Liverpool over the past week by the Express. The daily newspaper goes onto say that the Reds are ‘reportedly’ prepared to offer out-of-favour striker Mario Balotelli as part of a deal.
Beşiktaş recently completed the transfer of Ricardo Quaresma but are desperate to sign a striker following the sale of Demba Ba to Chinese giants Shanghai Shenhua for €14 million.
Gomez provided four assists and scored ten goals in 32 appearances for Fiorentina last season.
