Arsenal fans needed some cheering up after losing to relegation strugglers Swansea City in the Premier League.
The club did not disappoint their loyal supporters and had quite a treat in store.
The North London based outfit announced the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and that Mesut Ozil extended his contract deal until 2021.
The playmaker of Turkish origin was closely linked with an Emirates exit with just a few months remaining on his contract.
The announcement came as a surprise and was welcomed by the Arsenal faithful.
We took a look at how Gooners reacted to Ozil’s contract deal on social media.

At a time when Arsenal were out of Champions league, placed 6th on the table and was losing to teams battling relegation week in week out, Mesut Ozil decided to renew his contact with us, even after seeing one of our stars leave us for our rivals.
He’s my new hero and legend.

Never mind Aubameyang the best deal of this window is Mesut Ozil new deal

Hearing that Mesut Ozil turned down Man Utd, PSG and nearly £800,000 a week from China means he’s guaranteed a place in Arsenal’s history as a legend.
Not only has he returned trophies to the club during a difficult spell, but he’s shown faith when everyone else has fucked off.

And somehow managed to lose to Swansea!
In the space of ten days Arsenal have:
Signed Mkhitaryan ✅
Reached a cup final ✅
Signed Aubameyang ✅
Renewed Ozil’s contract ✅ pic.twitter.com/vDi9PK07UM— Dream Team (@dreamteamfc) January 31, 2018
The numbers never lie.
In 1989-1990, Arsenal’s highest paid employee earned £245k a year, or 3.2% of their £7.6m income. Ozil’s new contract is worth about £16.9m a year, or about 3.8% of their income. Plus ça change, apart from a few noughts. pic.twitter.com/S2De90hxRZ

The 4-0-6 it is then!
OHHH YESSSSSSSS ???
Ozil new contract + Aubameyang + Mkhitaryan is so much better than we could have expected – you could argue that’s a strong improvement.
Particularly looking forward to our 4-0-6 formation. //t.co/w4zaQXMEj4— Chris Dixön (@chrismd10) January 31, 2018
Good point!
Also the fact that Arsenal have locked in Ozil and captured Auba must mean some SERIOUS spending this summer, otherwise what’s the incentive for these players to come/stay at Arsenal? I’m excited.

Banter.
We are delighted to complete the signing of Mesut Ozil from ourselves, on a free transfer. I’m sorry he did not cost £50m.
