Borussia Dortmund are keen to hold onto Ilkay Gündoğan despite interest from Juventus according to Calciomercato.
The Italian paper state that Juve’s manager Massimiliano Allegri is a huge fan of the Germany international and has instructed the club to pursue negotiations with Dortmund.
However, Calciomercato go onto say that Dortmund have no intention of selling Gündoğan after they extended the 24-year-old’s contract last month.
Allegri wants reinforcements following an injury to their new signing Sami Khadira. Juventus also lost two key midfielders in Arturo Vidal to Bayen Munich and Andrea Pirlo to the MLS side New York City FC.
The Guardian states that Khadira is expected to miss the first two months of the season with a thigh injury.
Manchester United and Arsenal were both closely linked with a move for the Germany international earlier this summer by the Daily Mail.
Gündoğan wrapped up the season with five assists and three goals in 33 appearances in all competitions.
