Bursaspor are planning to inaugurate their new 45,000 seater Timsah (Crocodile) Arena stadium with a game against 2014 La Liga champions Atletico Madrid according to Hürriyet.
The report claims that the game will be played on 26 August if an agreement is reached.
Atleti have established close ties with the Turkish speaking world. The Spanish giants recently signed a sponsorship with Turkish speaking Azerbaijan and also built an academy in partnership with Başakşehir.
The La Liga outfit also have a loyal Turkish following thanks to former star Arda Turan who joined Atletico Madrid this summer.
Bursaspor’s new stadium project, the Timsah Arena is nearing completion. Timsah actually means Crocodile in Turkish and it ties in with the clubs nickname – The Green Crocodiles.
The new stadium will have a 45,000 capacity and is being constructed within the vicinity of the regeneration of the Osmangazi area of Bursa.
The Timsah Arena will incorporate a crocodile head design making it one of the most unique stadiums in football.
Bursa with it’s 2.6 million population is Turkey’s fourth largest city, situated in the Marmara region, just a hours travelling distance from Istanbul.
The Timsah Arena will replace the current Bursaspor venue, the 25,000 capacity Bursa Atatürk stadium.
