Genk captain Thomas Buffel has heaped praise on Enes Ünal after the Turkish international made his debut for the club on the weekend.
Ünal has made his debut for Genk against Waregem on Friday. The 18-year-old striker is on a season long loan at the Belgium Jupiler Pro league side.
“Enes performed well in his first game for the club,” Buffel was quoted as saying by Eurosport.
“It’s still early in the season and we will improve as a team as time goes on.
“After playing alongside him I am sure Enes will help Genk achieve success.
“You can see the quality he has when the ball comes to his feet.”
Ünal game on as a substitute for Tornike Okriashvili in the 71st minute and looked lively in the 18 minutes he was on the field.
The game ended a 0-0, Genk take on Westerlo next weekend at the Cristal Arena.
Ünal is unable to play in England next season as he does not have the necessary work visa requirements. The 18-year-old has been sent on loan to Belgium so that he can attain a UK work-permit in the future.
The 18-year-old holds the record of being the youngest player to ever score in top-tier football in 2013 when he scored against Galatasaray and made his international debut aged 17.
