Cenk Tosun would have been preparing for a Champions League Last 16 clash against Bayern Munich had he not joined Everton last Friday.
The Turkey international played a starring role in Besiktas reaching the second round.
Tosun was directly involved in six – netting four and providing two assists – of the Black Eagles 11 goals in Group G.
The reigning Super Lig champions became the first Turkish team to reach the Last 16 as group leaders.
Despite his role in making history for Besiktas Tosun ended up leaving the Istanbul giants.
The 26-year-old revealed that it was actually Sam Allardyce who persuaded him to make the switch and the chance of playing for a historic club like Everton.
“Everton are a massive, historical club,” Tosun said at his press conference. “Sam Allardyce played a big role in the move and I felt how much the club wanted me.
“Yes, there was a club that was interested in me but I don’t want to name any clubs. But Everton were the first team that seriously wanted me.”

Tosun also revealed that playing in the Premier League was one of his dreams.
The Turkey international won back to back league titles in his final two seasons at Besiktas and wants to continue winning silverware at Everton.
“I always say that it was my biggest dream to play in the Premier League. Everton were one of the teams that I always watched and it is a great honour for me to play here,” he added.
“The main aim is to take the team to a new place, and score as many goals as I can. We want to go on and win cups and I want to be a part of that.”
