Cenk Tosun’s Former Manager Reacts To Everton Display Against Tottenham

Cenk Tosun made his Everton debut in the 4-0 loss against Tottenham at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Tosun was unable to score but he almost provided an assist over the course of the 62 minutes he was on the field.

The 26-year-old setup Wayne Rooney with what would have been the opening goal had the linesman not ruled it offside.

Tosun’s former manager Senol Gunes was also watching the game and gave his reaction afterwards.

Gunes thought his former pupil did well despite being isolated and that he has no doubts he has the quality to do well in the Premier League.

“I thought Cenk did well for his first game,” Gunes said.

“Everton didn’t help matters playing so defensive and leaving him so isolated but it is understandable considering how strong Tottenham are at home.

“I think he will do well in the Premier League, he showed he has the quality, he actually looked a lot better than most players on the field.”

Gunes is credited with developing Tosun into the player he is today, under his stewardship the striker won back to back league titles managing to establish himself as a first choice striker ahead of the likes of Mario Gomez and Vincent Aboubakar.

The Toffees take on West Brom next at Goodison Park on Saturday, Tosun is expected to start.
