David Comolli Set For First Job Since Liverpool Exit, Expected To Be Appointed Fenerbahce Sporting Director Today

Damien Comolli is well known to fans of Arsenal, Tottenham and most recently Liverpool.

After scouting for Arsenal, discovering the likes of Kolo Touré, Emmanuel Eboue and Gael Clichy he become sporting director for Spurs in 2005.

Comolli was appointed the same role for Liverpool in 2010.

Under his watch, Liverpool signed the likes of Luis Suarez but also Andy Carroll and Charlie Adam.

At the time Carroll’s signing was the most expensive British player ever and eighth most expensive player in history.

Comolli also helped Liverpool sign Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Doni, José Enrique, Sebastián Coates and Craig Bellamy.

Comolli has not had a major role in football since leaving Liverpool that that is expected to change.

Turkish-Football understands that recently elected Fenerbahce president Ali Koc is set to appoint Comolli as club sporting director today.

Aykut Kocaman resigned from his position as Fenerbahce manager after Koc won the election.

Koc has drawn up a five-man managerial shortlist, which includes the likes of Luis Enrique and Laurent Blanc.

 

Koc hails from one of the most wealthy families in Turkey and has held the vice presidency of the executive board of Koc Holding, a Turkish conglomerate, since February 2016.
