Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc has stated that he is confident that Ilkay Gundogan will sign a contract extensions with the German club.

“We are in good conversation with him. From my vantage point a contract extension makes sense for both sides,” Zorc was quoted as saying by tribalfootball.com.

“Illy was very young, before his injury. He was the best footballer for his age and now has not yet reached his zenith.”

The 24-year-old’s contract runs out in July 2016 and Dortmund will be keen to cash in if Gündoğan does not put pen to paper on a new deal.
